In southern Colombia, the Andes are a single volcanic mountain range with peaks up to 5000 m in height, but to the north is rapidly dividing into three ranges respectively called West, Central and Eastern Europe, in the nodes of Pasto and Almaguer. The three mountain ranges are mainly of volcanic peaks over 4,000 meters. The Central and Eastern have peaks over 5,000 m covered with permanent snow.
